Are you intending to go to Portsmouth University? Then you are choosing one of the most learning institutes in the United Kingdom. It has become a learning location known for its exceptional quality of facilities and its tremendous tuition. However, the one issue that you might have is that – like any going to any other university – you might have some issues in getting ready for student life. Here are some tips that we recommend that you try and keep in mind; they might just be the difference between success and failure!
Pick a good place to live
First off, make your living spot an essential part of your choice. You want to pick a location that is going to make it easy for you to get to uni, but also be affordable enough that you can still enjoy a quality of life as you learn. Make sure you pick a place to live that is modern, safe, secure, and is not going to make you feel like you are out of the way.
Choose a safe location to live
It’s not just about quality of space, but safety of space. You want to have a personal space to study, but you also want to know that your essential goodies are not going to be going anywhere anytime soon. That’s why we recommend that you look to choose a safe location to live.
If you do that, you are much more likely to find a place to live that’s safe and feels good to be in and around.
Try and avoid travelling
One of the hardest parts of life in Portsmouth, though, is getting around. As a student, getting around cheaply can be tough. We recommend finding a place to live and study that is going to make it easy for you to walk to uni, the supermarkets, and recreational activities.
The more walking that you can do, the better. Try and avoid having to rely upon expensive public transport when possible.
Get rid of temptation
By the same token, make sure you pick a place that is going to be free from too much temptation. Picking student accommodation that is surrounded with pubs and clubs might sound like a good idea, but it won’t sound so good when you start spending all of your money on nights out!
Uni is about learning as much as it is growing as a person, so make sure you don’t build your Portsmouth University memories on drunken nights over diplomas.
Know what you want to achieve
From bringing the right items from home to making intelligent choices about where to live, know what you want to achieve when you first go to university. While a pass is obviously the starting point, how else can you grow and/or improve as a person? Be sure to think about this; it might just make the challenging process of personal development ahead of you a bit easer to overcome.
