Fact-Checking Policy
Every number on this site should be traceable to a public source. Here is how we make sure it is.
What we check
- Figures: each salary, growth rate, aid amount and tuition average is matched to its source and its year before publishing.
- Rules: statements about credits, accreditation, financial aid and licensing (such as the CPA) are checked against official sources and phrased to reflect that states and schools vary.
- Dates: we state the year of every figure, because pay data and aid limits change.
What we avoid
We do not publish invented statistics, unverifiable claims about specific schools, or rankings. Where a reliable figure does not exist, we explain the factors instead.
Updates
We review guides when the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases new data and when federal aid rules change, such as the graduate loan changes that took effect July 1, 2026.
